Reporting to Electrician & Instrumentation Shop Foreman, the Power Plant Electrician & Instrumentation Technician will be responsible for completing maintenance of electrical/instrumentation components and systems of the plant and related infrastructure.

You will contribute to our team by:

  • Completing work orders safely, efficiently, and optimally maintain electrical and instrumentation systems of the plant.
  • Functional using of CMMS, including input of work requests as required.
  • Conducting comprehensive analysis into electrical/instrumentation component and system issues and resolve practically and optimally.
  • Demonstrating knowledge and competency of all applicable Electrical/Instrumentation codes and best practices.
  • Firm understanding of Capital Power’s and Genesee Power Station’s policies and procedures.
  • Pursuing proactive measures for maintaining plant reliability.
  • Seeking out most efficient means in completion of tasks while keeping safety at the forefront.
  • Providing technical input into the improvement and optimization of plant electrical/instrumentation systems and processes.
  • Driving innovation into improvement of E&I teamwork structure and procedures.
  • Placing betterment of the team and plant above personal motives.
  • Providing solutions to technical and team issues in spite of barriers that may exist.
  • Actively participating and contributing to safety programs and initiatives.
  • Instilling zero risk to themselves and co-workers regarding HSE.
  • Accurately assessing the risk of equipment deficiencies to plant reliability.
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships amongst team and other groups in the plant.
  • Collaborating with other groups/disciplines for efficient resolution to complex issues.

What you will bring to the role:   

Education:

  • Completed Grade 12 Diploma.
  • Red Seal Journeyman Electrician and/ or Red Seal Journeyman Instrumentation.
  • 2-year technical program in electrical or instrumentation (must have successfully completed apprenticeship) from a recognized Trade School preferred.

Experience:

  • 5 years in an industrial/power industry setting as an E/I Tech.
  • DCS and PLC experience will be desired.

Working Conditions:

  • Heavy industrial facility designated as a safety sensitive location.
  • Physical mobility and ability to use PPE required.
  • Union/out-of-scope work force

Additional Details:

Union: IBEW1007

Wage: $59.41

Hours of Work: 40 hours a week

This position will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.

Note to Applicants: The Genesee Generating Station is 80 kilometers southwest of Edmonton – you must provide your own transportation. A site premium is provided.

As this is a safety sensitive position, clearance of a pre-employment drug & alcohol test is required.

Clearance of a pre-employment medical will also be required.
