We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join our dynamic Treasury Operations team!

Reporting to the Director, Credit & Treasury, as the Manager, Cash (Treasury Operations) you are accountable for management of cash and liquidity requirements, FX and interest rate derivative transactions and reporting, cash forecasting, and the Treasury Associate position.

You will contribute to our team by

  • Managing and/or supporting the execution of the cash position and forecast reporting prepared and presented to the Treasurer and CFO.
  • Monitoring and managing corporate liquidity.
  • Monitoring corporate FX and interest rate exposures within the Policy; Managing FX, interest rate and financing risks including the use of derivatives within the Policy.
  • Timely and accurate execution and deal settlement of cash investments, FX transactions and finance derivative transactions within the Policy.
  • Monitoring and reporting on treasury exposures under the Policy including timely and accurate preparation and filing of risk reporting.
  • Timely and accurate preparation and submission of daily borrowing and repayment notices.
  • Ensuring the appropriate recording of treasury transactions by working closely with accounting and other teams.
  • Actively engaging cross functionally within Treasury and other areas of the organization (Tax, Finance, Risk Management, Credit, etc).
  • Providing recommendations on cash management and borrowings to minimize interest costs and maximize returns within the scope of the Policy.
  • Coaching direct report and provide input into performance reviews and development needs of peers and more junior employees.
  • Having management oversight and technical knowledge of Treasury systems and software.

What you will bring to the role  

Education

  • Degree or diploma in business, finance, accounting, or related field.
  • A professional Finance designation is an asset (CFA or similar), alternatively, significant relevant experience.
  • Education equivalency may be considered.

Experience:

  • 5 years of post-graduation finance experience with at least 5 years corporate treasury/finance/banking experience.
  • Experience with Reval and TMS implementation would be an asset.

Technical Skills:

  • Effective business partner providing corporate finance advice necessary to make reliable and timely business decisions.
  • Interpretive, analytical skills required to identify favourable tenable positions in conjunction with related risks and defend positions taken as related to complicated treasury matters.
  • Ability to engage other areas of expertise to work as an effective team and resolve issues.
  • Ability to explain concepts to a variety of audiences including Senior Management.
  • Fully engaged in treasury technical work and making recommendations for change as necessary.

Working Conditions:

  • Hybrid Office/Work from home position.
  • Location: Edmonton or Calgary.
  • Travel to meet business users at Capital Power facilities or other offices.

Clearance of Credit check is required for this position.
