Capital Power Corporation is currently seeking an innovative and results-oriented individual to join our finance team!

Reporting to the VP, Finance and Treasury, as the Director of Mergers and Acquisitions, you will play a crucial role in developing and executing the evaluation, financial, and operational strategy for mergers, acquisitions, and divestiture projects.

You will contribute to our team by

  • Identifying, researches, analyzes, makes recommendations, and negotiating potential mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures to support the organization’s growth objectives.
  • Focusing on delivering value to the business by developing integration strategies, coordinating due diligence, and post-close integration management.
  • Review in modeling and financial analysis of impending and on-going transactions.
  • Planning and implementing negotiations strategies.
  • Delivering well communicated, balanced, and comprehensive analyses for each stage of merger and acquisition transactions to key stakeholders.
  • Making recommendations regarding the impact of possible mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures on the organization’s profitability.
  • Playing a strategic role in leading, planning, and providing support for due diligence activities across all functional areas of any transaction inclusive of commercial, financial, operations, technology, etc.
  • Evaluating and recommending potential acquisitions balancing company growth objectives with public market accretion.
  • Identifying markets, industries, geographies, and technologies that complement the overall
  • M&A strategy and translate these analyses into specified targets.
  • Remaining apprised of legislation and regulatory policies impacting mergers and acquisitions.
  • Conducting appropriate due diligence to ensure the reliability of information provided by potential acquisition targets.
  • Reviewing complex financial models to value acquisition targets, perform analysis to assess the feasibility.
  • Partnering with departments in the organization.
  • Developing and leveraging existing external relationships while seeking opportunities to build new ones.
  • Being involved with legal to ensure proper protocols, legislation, and processes are adhered to.

What you will bring to the role

Education:

  • Completed bachelor’s degree in finance, commerce, or related field.
  • CFA, MBA or equivalent.

 Experience:

  • 10-15 years of relevant industry experience.

Technical Skills:

  • Excellent negotiating experience and communications skills.
  • Engage other areas of expertise to work as a team.
  • Ability to explain concepts to a variety of audiences including the Board or external parties.
  • Exercises influential strategies as a leader to influence decision making.
  • Proactive business partner and leader in Finance and cross-functional areas.

Working Conditions:

  • Hybrid Office/Work from home position, with possible very minimal travel to meet business users at Capital Power facilities or other offices.

Clearance of Credit check is required for this position.

This position will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.
