Are you an ambitious and driven professional looking to take the next step in your Finance career? Look no further! Capital Power Corporation is seeking a Settlements Manager to join our world-class team.
As the Settlements Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the flawless execution of our settlement processes for trade settlements. You’ll lead a team of settlement specialists, making sure all transactions are settled in an accurate and timely manner, reducing operational risk, and adhering to applicable regulations.
You will contribute to our team by:
- Leading a team of Settlement Analysts.
- Overseeing the settlement process, including compliance with contract terms, reconciliation, and payments.
- Ensuring the timely and accurate settlement of trades and retail sales, guaranteeing that securities and cash are delivered or received according to contractual obligations, following up on outstanding settlements as required.
- Developing and implementing efficient processes for settlement, including trade reconciliation, invoicing, and payment.
- Promptly investigating and resolving any discrepancies or disputes related to settlements and working together with internal and external parties.
- Providing accurate and timely financial reporting on settlement activities, including profit and loss analysis.
- Collaborating with trading, risk management, and finance teams to ensure timely and accurate settlement processes.
- Monitoring settlement processes to identify and mitigate potential risks, such as failed trades or market disruptions.
- Assessing and mitigating risks associated with settlement activities, implementing robust controls and procedures.
- Addressing and resolving conflicts arising from settlement discrepancies or issues among different parties involved.
- Collaborating closely with data science and trading teams to improve settlement systems and processes, using automation and technology.
What you will bring to the role:
Education:
- Completed Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting or Equivalent.
- Education equivalency may be considered with related experience.
Experience and Technical Skills:
- 3 to 5-years’ experience in the accounting field.
- Thorough understanding of trade books and trading activities with a strong grasp of overarching business dynamics.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve any settlement-related issues.
Working Conditions:
- Hybrid Office/Work from home position, with possible very minimal travel to meet business users at Capital Power facilities or other offices.
Additional Details:
Clearance of Credit check is required for this position.
