Join us in powering a clean energy future!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Your Opportunity<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One Permanent Full Time Position.<\/p>\n<p>Capital Power Corporation is currently seeking an innovative and motivated individual to join our Information Services Infrastructure\u00a0team in Calgary.<\/p>\n<p>Reporting to the Network Manager, the Network Specialist is responsible for the performance of Capital Power&rsquo;s network infrastructure. This involves participating in and ensuring daily operational tasks are completed; including such items as: monitoring network health, incident and change management, backup validation, network health monitoring, patching, security reviews, etc.<\/p>\n<p><strong>You will contribute to our team by:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Supporting sophisticated and diverse set of network hardware and services for multiple business areas.<\/li>\n<li>Ensuring team provides highly adaptable and customer-focused support services for all Capital Power business units, including second tier support for the Service Desk.<\/li>\n<li>Supervising performance and ensuring high availability and performance levels are achieved to support a high customer experience.<\/li>\n<li>Coordinating and performing appropriate network maintenance to ensure reliable and secure performance of the network systems; including but not limited to: applying security patches, implementing version upgrades, modifying, and improving services and performing ongoing operational management tasks.<\/li>\n<li>Providing support services that meets outlined \u201cService Level Agreements\u201d in this highly sophisticated \u201cnetwork\u201d environment.<\/li>\n<li>Providing support services for both operations and capital project initiatives.<\/li>\n<li>Understanding and following IT processes and practices, including General Computing Controls (GCC\u2019s) to support CSOX requirements.<\/li>\n<li>Providing technical advice to direct manager, senior manager, and peers in support of business and strategic goals relevant to the duties of the position.<\/li>\n<li>Providing input into decisions within the network team and ensuring standard methodology is followed by vendors in relation to network managed services (if required).<\/li>\n<li>Leading and participating in the resolution of technical problems.<\/li>\n<li>Applying appropriate trouble-shooting skills and ensuring best-practice steps are followed in developing, testing, and implementing solutions. This includes ensuring root cause and Major Incident reviews are completed and documented.<\/li>\n<li>Serving\/acting as an internal technical resource related to the network infrastructure and supporting services, technologies and solutions implemented.<\/li>\n<li>With the complex set of supporting network services, providing an overarching solution instead of problem resolution.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What you will bring to the role:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Education:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Completed Diploma or Degree in Computing Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent.<\/li>\n<li>CompTIA Network+ and Security+ would be an asset.<\/li>\n<li>Cisco CCNP and CCNA would be an asset.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Experience:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>3+ years\u2019 experience in Palo Alto NGFW or equivalent would be an asset.<\/li>\n<li>3+ years\u2019 experience with design, support, maintenance, and integration of large-scale IT infrastructure systems, with a specialization in networking.<\/li>\n<li>3+ years in system support, maintenance, and support role.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Technical Skills:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Working knowledge of key network infrastructure components, including: proxy servers and services, such as application level (ex: F5); network switches, routers, firewalls; core network switches and virtual switches; networking technologies, such as: routing protocols (ex: OSPF); spanning tree, fail-over services, WAN acceleration, MPLS, WAN, SDWAN services, VMWare NSX-T, etc.; telephony services (ex: Cisco UC, Voice gateways, etc.).<\/li>\n<li>Strong documentation skills and attention to detail.<\/li>\n<li>Self-motivated, organized, customer focused, and effective communicator.<\/li>\n<li>Effective time management skills with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.<\/li>\n<li>Problem solving, results driven and action-oriented when working on assigned tasks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Working Conditions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hybrid Office\/Work from home position, with possible very minimal travel to meet business users at Capital Power facilities or other offices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Additional Details:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This position will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.<\/p>\n<p>In order to be considered for this role you must be legally eligible to work in Canada.<\/p>\n<p>The successful candidate for this position will undergo an education verification, reference checks and criminal record check.<\/p>\n<p>We believe that creating a culture that supports employee physical, mental, financial, and social wellbeing is critical to our success.
