It's Not
Rocket Science
It’s Not Complicated campaign works in tandem with the idiom ‘It’s Not Rocket Science’ to highlight professions in the science, technology, engineering, mathematics, skilled trades and leadership sectors where women are unfortunately not strongly represented.
‘It’s Not Rocket Science’ conveys that it shouldn’t be complicated for women to become whatever they dream of being. It is our collective responsibility to empower and encourage women to strive for a successful career in all fields. Figuratively speaking, female rocket scientists should no longer be an anomaly or a rare exception.

It's Not Complicated
Inspired by Rosie the Riveter – the iconic World War II campaign that recruited women to join the workforce – The Rosie Initiative presents It’s Not Complicated. Inspirational and aspirational, It’s Not Complicated was created to:
- Raise awareness and mitigate the significant impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Canadian women; and
- Promote women’s participation and advancement in Canada’s workforce to help rebuild the economy.

Our Inspiration
Rosie the Riveter’s ‘We can do it’ campaign poster remains one of the most memorable images of the 20th Century. As Canada slowly starts preparing for a post-COVID economy, It’s Not Complicated hopes to spark a similar movement by promoting the invaluable importance of women in Canada’s workforce.
In a tribute to our inspiration, It’s Not Complicated has adopted Rosie’s iconic red and white polka dot bandana. As an equally powerful modern-day symbol of women’s skills, strength and resilience, we will be encouraging all Canadians to display the bandana proudly.
Rosie Ambassador Pledge
Take the Pledge to stand with Canadian women to ensure they are equal partners in Canada’s economic recovery.
Our Initiatives
The Prosperity Project has developed 5 important Initiatives to ensure women are not forgotten during the pandemic – and are not left behind when we recover.
